Complete guide to Masuda Method shiny hunting - everything you need to know!

I've hatched thousands of eggs using this method, and I want to share everything I've learned to help other hunters.

Breeding Setup

What is the Masuda Method?
Named after Game Freak director Junichi Masuda, this method increases shiny odds when breeding two Pokemon from different real-world language games.

The Odds:

  • Base shiny odds: 1/4096

  • Masuda Method: 1/683

  • Masuda + Shiny Charm: 1/512

Setup Requirements:
  • A foreign Ditto (different language than your game)

  • The Pokemon you want to breed

  • Flame Body Pokemon for faster hatching

  • Oval Charm for more eggs

Pro Tips:
  • Use a Pokemon with a desired Nature + Destiny Knot

  • Organize your boxes beforehand

  • Watch something while breeding - it takes time!

  • Don't release duds until you're done (for counting)

Hatching Pokemon

My Personal Record:

  • Fastest: 3 eggs (Ralts)

  • Longest: 4,521 eggs (Feebas)

  • Average: About 600-700 eggs

Good luck with your hunts! Remember, every egg could be THE one!
